Description
Born in 1961, Pastor's practice is motivated by a passion to preserve our planet’s natural environments, and he is the only artist to represent the Principality of Monaco on an international stage, at the Venice Biennale (2007 and 2009), and at Expo 2015, Milan.

This work is part of Pastor's most celebrated body of work, Bleu Monochrome. His signature abstract paintings are made from raw pigment, carefully sourced from the mountains of Morocco, which the artist then applies to the canvas in a gestural, instinctive manner. The artworks are also subject to natural forces, such as rain, heat and wind, resulting in a mesmerising final appearance that evokes the purity and fragility of the oceans and the planet's waterways, or cracked, arid earth. With his artworks, Pastor aims to effect change, causing us to remember our responsibility to care for the natural environments of the world.
