Phillipe Pastor's Bleu Monochrome series utilises highly-saturated pure pigments to create a richly-toned and textured canvas. The artist prompts the viewer to engage with the ecological tensions in the piece - referencing marine pollution - whilst also providing space for individual interpretation, exploring notions of the sublime and the art-historical significance of blue. 

Phillipe Pastor was born in Monaco in 1961. He now works between Monaco and Spain, developing works that engage with the natural world. He uses a range of materials, including soils, pigments, and minerals.
