The Mountain series is among Kim’s most recognisable, with undulating bands of ink flowing horizontally across the picture plane. The calming aura of these works is achieved by the artist’s delicate and instinctive layering of successive washes of ink on the paper, that together build a compelling rhythm.

Mountain is made using the artist's signature mediums of ink, watercolour and Hanji paper. The work is an example of brush and ink painting in its purest form, using only a single colour, and investigating the balance between pigment and paper, opacity and transparency.
