Barnaby Hosking was born in Norwich in 1976. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Fine Art at the City and Guilds of London Art School and went on to obtain his Master's degree in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London. Following his education, the artist went on to complete several artist residencies, most recently at Lower Hewood Farm in Dorset, England, in 2016.
Drawing inspiration from the unconventional combination of minimalism and romanticism, Hosking's mixed media work transcends categorization from any singular art style or movement. His video installations, frequently comprised of projections onto shaped screens or various items, draw upon carefully combined art historical references, objects, paintings, moving and still images to create a multi layered narrative.
Hosking's work has been included in several exhibitions and fairs, including Art Basel Hong Kong in 2013 and Art Brussels in 2017. The artist currently lives and works in London.
