Robilant+Voena of London, Milan, and St. Moritz is pleased to announce the display of a carefully-curated section of Caravaggesque paintings by historically significant artists at TEFAF NY FALL. Masterworks range from an extraordinary Bartolomeo Manfredi (1582-1622), A Drinking and Musical Party, which was exhibited at the National Gallery London, to an exceptional newly discovered Still Life by Bartolomeo Cavarozzi (1590-1625) to Nicolas Regnier's (1590-1667) emotive Saint Matthew and the Angel. The group also includes classic Baroque subjects such as Judith with the Head of Holofernes by Andrea Vaccaro (1604-1670) and David and Goliath by Giuseppe Vermiglio (c.1585-c.1635), as well as two paintings by the esteemed female artist, Artemisia Gentileschi. The theme revisits the 2016 exhibition at Robilant+Voena London, In Pursuit of Caravaggio, which investigated the master painters who proceeded Caravaggio. Robilant+Voena continues to be the leader in the field of Caravaggesque painting and this grouping is one of their greatest assemblages.

The gallery will also display a notable group of Old Master pictures from gold grounds through the 19th century. This includes a recently-discovered and documented pair of gold ground paintings of exceptional quality and condition attributed to Bonifacio Bembo (Active 1444-1477): Saints Cosmas and Damian. The Renaissance profile Portrait of a Young Man on display was painted by Tommaso di Stefano Lunetti (c.1495-1564), called Tommaso Fiorentino, who trained in the workshop of the sculptor Andrea del Verocchio-which is evident in the three-dimensionality of the painting. The Metropolitan Museum of Art also holds a profile portrait by Fiorentino.

Two glorious painting by Gaspar Van Wittel, called Vanvitelli (1652/3-1736), View of the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine and A View of Lago Maggiore are painted in the grand manner with expressive Italian colors and expanses. Pompeo Batoni's (1708-1787) elegant Portrait of George Craster and the sensational Bacino of San Marco by Francesco Guardi (1712-1793) capture the ethos of the Grand Tour and were painted by Italian artists for English collectors.

The culmination of the stand is the sensitive erotic Portrait of Madame Bertin de Vaux by Anne-Louis Girodet (1767-1824), a pupil of Jacques-Louis David who participated in the early Romantic movement, and Giovanni Boldini's Portrait of Madame Eugene Doyen. This portrait, painted by the most fashionable Italian portrait painter of his lifetime, will certainly be a highlight of the fair.
