The Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Milan has acquired The Chimney Sweep (c. 1838) by Giuseppe Molteni for the museum collection. The painting exemplifies a popular subject in nineteenth-century Italy, which Molteni returned to on a number of occasions, beginning at the annual Brera exhibition in 1838.
