Musei Civici di Bassano del Grappa acquires 'Portrait of a Man in Armour' by Jacopo Bassano

Robilant+Voena is delighted to announce that a masterpiece by Jacopo da Ponte, called Bassano, had been acquired by the Musei Civici di Bassano del Grappa. The Portrait of a Man in Armour, executed in around 1560, was the centrepiece of an exhibition at the Museo Civico in 2022-23; its acquisition was the culmination of an extended campaign for the painting to return to the town, spearheaded by the director of the Musei Civici, Barbara Guidi, and Mayor Elena Pavan, both of whose determination and tireless work has made this outcome possible, thus enriching Bassano del Grappa’s artistic heritage.
