The Musée d'Orsay's acquisition of Jacques-Emile Blanche's Portrait of George Rodier from Robilant+Voena has been chosen as one of the key acquisitions for French museums in 2025 by BeauxArts magazine. The engaging, if somewhat melancholic, representation of Rodier reflects the liberal Belle Epoque circles in which both sitter and artist existed. Rodier was supposedly the inspiration behind the character of Legrandin in Marcel Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu, and this portrait makes a fitting addition to the Musée d'Orsay's collections: it joins a portrait of Proust himself, also by Blanche.
