This is the first in a new series of short videos exploring iconography in art history, focussing on the figure of Saint Jerome, who has provided a source of inspiration for artists across the centuries. The video examines a masterful depiction of the Saint by Jacopo Bassano, The Penitent Saint Jerome (c. 1585-91), uncovering elements of the painting that reveal the myths and visual traditions associated with the Saint.
