Postwar Italian art expresses a radical transformation in national identity. From the tabula rasa left after the destruction of war, artists forged something new, using everyday materials and sculptural abstraction to communicate their new reality. Unique in Europe, this moment of intense creativity led the artistic dialogue of the western world. Nero, on display in our Paris gallery, exhibits works created in black, allowing the viewer to focus on the diverse approaches taken by Italian artists searching for new means of creative expression.
